Union St and Paternoster Row Pyrmont, NSW

"... but it says 'No Entry'!"

In previous PADs I've mentioned a cycling shop that exists down at the far end of Paternoster Row, which is the street that we can see across the way here. (In fact, I just took a look at when it last appeared; it was the PAD for 17 March last year, which ties back to yesterday's lament about how fast time goes. I could have sworn it was only a couple of months back.)

The shop uses dummies to promote its business. Again, there was one in that last shot. On this occasion they had a dummy set up in Union Street at the far end of Paternoster Row pointing up to the location of the cycle shop. It was too good an opportunity to pass up.

My main concern is that it was such an intensely bright and sunny day that since the dummy was in the shadows I might have a problem getting enough dynamic range. I took a couple of standard images (where my fears proved to be well founded) and also took a five image HDR bracket just in case. In fact, that's what I've used here and even here his pointing hand is getting a little bit lost in the luminance. You can see it, but only when you consciously look for it. Still, I wanted him pointing to the No Entry sign, and that's what I got.

It came out well. It seems like he doesn't want people going into the plastic surgeon's office. Very thoughtfully composed. V
