20150124_2631 The (Painted) Faces Of Wollongong II (Sat 24 Jan)

Burelli St Wollongong

Alternative title: "Maybe if I ignore him he'll go away!"

In my PAD for 2 January (below) I did the first of a series of shots showing murals that were painted around the Wollongong CBD as part of the Wonderwalls festival which ran for three days in November 2013.

Although almost all of the paintings were remarkable in their artistry, this is arguably the pièce de résistance of the series in terms of scale and painting skill. (I waited for the chance to catch someone walking past to emphasise the scale side of things.)

Though I must admit, whatever this artist had sprinkled on their Corn Flakes to come up with this, I'm not sure that I want any of it.

Some good news is that the Wonderwall festival will be back later this year and is currently looking for more bare walls around the city to adorn with new work.

That is grand, very well done. First time a Koala might look scary!

An excellent piece of artwork. I really think these street murals add to the cityscape.
