20150104_1922 Moment Of Impact (Sun 04 Jan)

At Home, Illawarra, NSW

Had I set out to take a shot like this I may not have used the 60mm macro lens. But I didn't, I was originally going to take shots of the raindrops on the pool that offered some meagre relief to the summer heat.

When I had an offer for someone to dive into the pool, however, I decided "what the hey?"

The positioning was kinda-sorta intentional; obviously you don't have total control over this, but I'd envisaged the blue of the pool with a flash of red swimsuit across it with the splash and the droplets standing out against that; something more abstract than a clear representation of an actual person in mid dive. That's partly down to the lens; the fact that I had the macro lens on rather than a longer length lens meant that it was better to keep to basic shape and colour.

I wouldn't call it "the decisive moment" but moment of impact it certainly was.

Excellent, you have captured the motion and impact really well. I like the composition!

Great shot. I like the diagonal and the red against the blue. Excellent composition. V

It mightn't be what you intended but it's good. The swimmer cut across the photo at an obliging diagonal and the red looks good against the blue.
Mind you, if I was there, I'd be in the pool, not standing in the heat with a camera.
