20140913_9130003 The Observer (Sat 13 Sep)

Flagstaff Hill, Wollongong, Illawarra, NSW

On a grey and overcast Saturday morning a seagull watches a paddleboarder making his way along the shoreline.

Some hours later four of us would make our way back to Wollongong to have dinner at the Chargoal Café (eh, not bad, not great) and to attend the Tina Arena concert (obviously not my choice, I'm more a Chris Hadfield fan) which sort of had its moments except for the group of alcoholically-lubricated early 50-something women in front of us. Especially the one that kept bopping her head up and down in what would have been the rhythm of the songs, had the songs been in fact devoid of any rhythm.

She in particular felt that it was far more important for her own voice to be yelled at her four friends during the warm-up acts, because obviously nobody paid to see much less hear those. All five were oblivious to the death stares that they were getting from the people in the rows in front of them, and to the fact that some of the people sitting next to them eventually moved away into other seats. (The concert was well attended but a long way from a sellout so there were empty seats available. But like I said, it's not like it was Chris Hadfield.)

No, the latter commentary had nothing to do with the picture (save for the fact that karma might someday cause the seagull to be hovering over the head bopper when nature calls - hey, I can dream), but I mention this only for the "visual diary" aspect of the PAD.

Drunk careless people can ruin an evening.
The image is very well composed. The curves of the waves lead my eyes into the image. V

People, especially lubricated with alcohol are idiots.
