This is an external shot of the first building, taken from the far side of the rail line. You can see how much work and skill would have gone into its construction. I imagine that it did manage to pay for itself over its economic life; it's just a pity that that life has ended in this kind of fashion. It has the makings of a wonderful hotel but would need a horrendous amount of work to bring it back to being habitable by people of a less itinerant lifestyle.
If you use a little imagination, you can even see the windows of the attic seeming to express an open-mouthed disdain for their fate.
