Perth is reputed to be the sunniest capital in Australia. Which it was, for our first two days there. After that the rainclouds moved in, as you can see here.

After we checked out of the hotel and before heading to our next destination of Mandurah south of Perth, we stopped in at Kings Park, an expansive parkland on the high ground overlooking the Swan River and the city of Perth. Proportionally Western Australia seems to have contributed pretty heavily to the war effort in World War I, so it's not surprising that they should have put in some effort to commemorate those who contributed to "the war to end all wars".

Here we see the permanent flame atop the pool of remembrance, with an obelisk commemorating those who served in the background. Beyond that is the Swan River, and then the city.

The 24-105 was really spluttering by now. As noted in my previous PAD I gave up on it for the trip to the Perth Zoo but gave it another chance here. It would work normally intermittently (and here I think it did a pretty good job) but it was really starting to be too much like hard work to use it. In that sense this is almost like the 24-105's memorial to itself as well, though it still had a few shots left in it.
