20120916_24210 Frozen In Time (Sun 16 Sep)

Northbeach Wollongong, Illawarra, NSW

Lemmie see, what does this button on top of the 40D that goes "click" do again? Oh yeah, that's right. Now this f/ thing, whazzat again?

My subject here is not the only one frozen in time, not least since I'm posting this shot over 2 months after I took it. (Though I have actually lost a few shots which were taken in the intervening period, and I have a few more to put up from later in the year.)

My intention was to take a break from PADing only briefly while I was scanning literally tens of thousands of pages of documents which I had accumulated over many years of being located in the same place, and which wouldn't fit in the new one. (Quite a feat as there was a time there when staying in the one place for six months was an extended period for me.) Then I quite unexpectedly lost the distinction of being able to say "I have only ever been in a hospital as a visitor", though that was mercifully brief. (Though to give it its due the care at Sydney Hospital was excellent and the food nowhere near as bad as hospital food is reputed to be.) Then there was the move itself, and the period of living out of cardboard boxes until I could unpack everything which, yes, quite right, still hasn't been fully unpacked yet. Then there was getting used to my new commute of some 2 hours each way, each day which is not as bad as it sounds since the train service, while disturbingly infrequent, consists of clean, spacious carriages and there's plenty of opportunity to get work done on a notebook with a long life battery. It does, however, cramp one's PADing style.

And finally there's the fact that my principal weapon in PADing, the Olympus E-P1 (the Canon being too big to lug around each day) was put "somewhere safe", so safe that I didn't find it until a couple of weeks back.

So. My PAD ended up with an unplanned freeze at 9 April and never really got going again making my 2012 gallery the Worst. PAD. Gallery. Ever.

However it does give me a nice, low benchmark to beat for 2013.

Last Year
I was also slacking off and don't have a shot for this day last year. (Boy, is that line gonna get a workout next year…)
