This $8,500 sculpture is of wood, metal and discarded plastic. Through it NSW sculptor Jane Gillings asks "Does anyone really own anything?"
Well I'd suggest that a couple of thousand years of property law would say "yes", but in another sense I do se her point. Ultimately ownership is hollow in that what is yours today, may not be yours tomorrow. Indeed you may not have a tomorrow.
I don't even own this view of this image in the sense that someone else was standing in it. Of course I own copyright in my version of it, but the time and place, however, were not wholly mine.
