I'm not going to deny that there was a touch of "desperation shot" in today's PAD; sunset was near, the sky was too overcast to render any useful sunset images, and I had taken nothing earlier in the day. (Which is quite annoying, as there was some interesting light in a couple of places that I visited this morning, though I didn't even have the Olympus with me much less the 40D and tripod that I would have needed to take advantage of it.)
Still, this is to some extent reflective of the day. After an inauspicious start (for one of us), specifically having a towbar "adjusted" by a Hyundai running into it from behind), the rest of the day was whiled away with conversation, dining and some aerobic Wii activities. Indeed, at the end of the day I hit a personal best in Wii bowling of 236, though I've yet to get anywhere near that in real life.
It wasn't quite a "just set it up and shoot" image; I was playing around with a spotlight to control the shadows and highlight the raised dots atop the controller number indicator light. Unfortunately the macro lens also picks up every molecule of dust adhering to the controllers. (Which I couldn't get off entirely no matter what I used to clean them.)
I decided to go the selective colour route in part as a hat tip to my image from this day last year - one of my most popular ones in fact - Big Red Bus. I doubt that Whee! is going to prove quite as popular, but hey, at least I'm still shooting 100% for the calendar year to date.
