Little Collins Street (more a lane than a street) is home to a number of pubs and eateries. Near this shot can be found Bridie O'Reilly's, not so much an Irish pub (it's a few thousand kilometres too far away for that) but certainly a replica of what one is expected to be, and the Rare Steakhouse (mmmmm...), both of which will be appearing in my Melbourne galleries when I get around to sifting the 580-odd shots that I took on this trip.
However for this one we're looking at a pub called Pony. A touch on the Bohemian side with red walls and retro lampshades, it features live music and (usually) a 7am closing time. (Opening 6pm Thursday and Friday, 8pm Saturday.) This being Christmas morning, an exception has doubtless been made. On other trips, though, I've noticed substantial crowds spilling out into Little Collins Street in the small hours, often from here.
And yes, that is a collection of toy ponies behind the glass over the door.
