20100817_5722 The Reader, His Dog And The Lunchtime Walkers (Tue 17 Aug)

Pyrmont, NSW

It's not like the parks and piers are devoid of people at lunchtimes; not on bright, sunny days anyway. But there were a few more than usual today, and a couple of canines thrown into the mix. This shot was originally going to be of the greyhound alone, but alas there isn't enough of him to fill the picture. Hopefully his owner is treating him to a slab of roast beef or ten tonight because even for a greyhound that's a distinctly Nicole Ritchie look.

I could have done with the guy in the background being a bit further off to the left, but candids are candids and you go with what you've got. I had to make a best guess on how far to throw him out of focus. Ah f/8, is there nothing you can't do?

That poor dog definitely needs more feeding. A nice calm mid-day scene,as you recorded your subjects' levels of self-occupation, with none of them showing they noticed the photographer.

Unusual to see a greyhound off the lead - here they have to muzzled in public.
Nice composition with the white bollards providing a leading in
