100724_080033_8974 The Fudge Shop

Harbourside Shopping Centre, Darling Harbour, NSW

This is about as "in" a photographic joke as you're likely to see in this gallery, so just skip it if you don't get it.

One of the regular PADers has been missing in action for two days, which is most unusual. Now where could she be...

Edit August 2023: This is so cryptic that I considered whether I should even keep it in this gallery since it's not going to be "fun stuff" to anyone else. However I decided that it had a historic significance to me, so it can stay.

At the time that I took this I was doing a Photo A Day (PAD) gallery on PBase and the reference was to another photographer who was doing the same, and who had (and thankfully still has at the time of writing) a dog called Fudge (who was a mere puppy at that time!)

What do I mean by "historic significance"? For a start, I no longer inhabit this part of the world very often. Secondly, I certainly will never be seeing this shop again. Harbourside closed down at the end of 2022 for refurbishment to "turn it into a world class destination with the addition of a huge phallic symbol of an apartment block tower that we developers will be able to rake in money hand over fist from, while still leaving the location without any decent level of public transport, but that will be someone else's problem once we bank the profits. Man, I can't believe that the civil planning authorities are so GULLIBLE, all we have to say is "world class" and "jobs" (of which there will probably be fewer than at present since the new shopping complex will be smaller), and they fall for it every time! Oh wait, did we say that last bit out loud?"

As of June this year, all that was left at the location that I took this shot from is a pile of rubble, and some memories. So while it's far from a "split your sides funny" shot, eeh, it can stay.

:) at Mairéad! Is there a chocolate shop nearby? I'd like some pralines please!

:) Those trays of fudge look tasty but I don't see any puppies for sale!
