Edit January 2024: I didn't think it worth mentioning at the time ("for will it not ALWAYS be there?", one may have thought) but that grey track running between the flags is the rail of the Sydney Monorail. It would "live life" until 30 June 2013, a bit over 3 years from this shot... at which time its life would be terminated and in due course that rail would be carted off for scrap. It's somewhat unfortunate since it's the only thing that provided anything like shelter from the searing summer sun and the beating winter rain, since the geniuses who run the bridge refuse to even consider the possibility of adding some kind of shelter for people crossing it.
