Sigh, so I'm reduced to this. This is not at all the shot that I was planning for today. The planned shot was a big, wide area of the Queen Victoria Building, taken with the 10-22 lens.
Alas, in the relatively low light conditions (and lacking IS) the 10-22 was a tad too slow, and under high ISOs things were a tad too grainy.
Consequently what I'm left with is a handful of "afterthought" shots, including this one.
A spiral staircase leads up to a door in the wall near the central dome of the building. The wall behind it is painted a solid red, lit at strategic points. Should I subsequently get the shots that I planned you'll see it, and I'll cross-reference it accordingly. It's a staircase that you wouldn't want to climb if you suffer from vertigo.
In the meantime all I can offer is a taste of the lower section of the staircase.
