Good point on how long, or how short, the FAA Tower served! Little did the FAA or the county know that the North Terminal Project would be built so tall that the controllers would lose sight of parts of 9L-27R (now 8R-26L) or the taxiways to the south of it. The smoke is from the engine test cells located in the MIAD section. Don

Kinda sad both the Concorde and the blimp likely outlived the tower they were honoring. And what's up with that column of smoke below the Concorde?
