On February 6, 1991 this A-10 Warthog was piloted by Captain Robert R. Swain USAF and he scored the first even air-to-air victory in an A-10 aircraft. He shot down an Iraqi Bo-105C helicopter over Iraq during combat operations. Capt. Swain was attached to the 706th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 926th Tactical Fighter Group. This display at the Academy was made possible with the financial assistance of the USAFA Class of 1979 and the USAF Academy Association of Graduates. This aircraft is on loan from the Museum of the Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.
