1970's - USCG Lockheed HC-130B Hercules #CG-1339 from Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco

San Francisco, California

Thank you to my buddy Richard Silagi for contributing this great old black and white image that he obtained as a kid by writing to the Commanding Officer of Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco. Richard scanned the three photos and sent them to me via e-mail.

CG-1339 was the first HC-130 delivered to Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco in December 1959. HC-130 #CG-1339 set a distance record in September 1960 when it flew non-stop between Shemya, Alaska, and Elizabeth City, NC, a total of 5,532 nautical miles.

Air Station San Francisco lost their fixed wing aircraft in March 1978 when their HC-130's and HU-16 Albatrosses were relocated to Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento.
