Thank you to my buddy Richard Silagi for contributing this great old black and white image that he obtained as a kid by writing to the Commanding Officer of Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco. Richard scanned the three photos and sent them to me via e-mail.
CG-1339 was the first HC-130 delivered to Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco in December 1959. HC-130 #CG-1339 set a distance record in September 1960 when it flew non-stop between Shemya, Alaska, and Elizabeth City, NC, a total of 5,532 nautical miles.
Air Station San Francisco lost their fixed wing aircraft in March 1978 when their HC-130's and HU-16 Albatrosses were relocated to Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento.
