Concourse C, originally built in 1959 and used exclusively by Eastern Airlines until 1989 under a long-term lease, is still in operation with American Airlines flight on the east (left) side. The five gates on the west side of Concourse C are totally blocked by the $30,000,000 temporary bag shed built for American Airlines. The large temporary bag shed was the third temporary bag shed erected to serve American's baggage sorting needs. The Terminal North Project, AKA "The Project that ate the airport", is still underway with the Concourse D Tower, to be jointly occupied by the Aviation Department's Gate Controllers and American Airlines operations personnel.
