Established as the Waikato Chiefs for the debut time of Super 12 rugby, the Chiefs are an expert rugby association club from New Zealand. Before this, Waikato had been handling its National Provincial Championship (NPC) side in the Super 10 contest from which Super 12 advanced.
Today, the bosses are one of five New Zealand groups rivaling groups from Australia, Fiji, and the Pacific Islands in the Super Rugby contest. Its home ground is FMG Stadium Waikato, and is recognized by its dark, red, and yellow pullover which mirrors the Chiefs Country locale.
For the initial not many years in Super 12, the bosses generally positioned in the base to center of the finish of-season standings. It wouldn't be until the 2004 season that it would acquire its most memorable finals spot subsequent to completing fourth on the stepping stool and coming to the semi-finals where they confronted the Brumbies. Tragically, the Brumbies would win on this event.
For the years that followed, the Chiefs would again get back to the center of the rankings, where they would complete 6th in the last Super 12 season (2005), and seventh in the main Super 14 Season (2006) — a year which would see the expansion of new clubs from Australia and South Africa.
Things would begin to change in 2009, in any case, when the group made its very first fantastic finals appearance subsequent to overcoming the Hurricanes 14-10 in the semi-last. In the last, the bosses confronted the Bulls where they encountered an overwhelming misfortune, going down with only 17 focuses against the Bulls 61.
