At the rear of the Hampton Plantation house, there is an outbuilding - a kitchen building -
for servants and storage. It is a simple, old, structure. I suppose that there are
demonstrations here now for visitors, including perhaps the making of flour in this large 'mortar',
using a 'pestle'. Nearby is an old 'millstone', also for display. The glove, I guess, is
what the kitchenhand (no pun) uses to avoid blisters during demonstrations. It is stained, and worn.
It was also the only bright spot at this historic but dreary building.
