Stage II - The Roof.
(Ground Breaking 1958 - Opening 1973)
Never before had a roof such as this been attempted.
Over one million ceramic tiles were custom made to fit the 'sail shape'

I've stood by it often enough. The first image I've seen of it under construction.

What a brilliant, historical image!!! I've never seen 'our' Opera House like that before....always the brilliant shiny white against the powdered diamond blue water. Fantastic. The colors are really nice in this too..
