Acis and Galatea

Started a new etching today, 'biting the bullet' and pencilling directly into soft ground - which gives
a much nicer line as it turns out after biting it with an acid bath.

This is is only the first proof, and I have several to go for sure, but I like the start.

This scene is taken from a rough pen sketch I made at the Medici Fountain in Paris in the summer.
Although the fountain is quite large, I decided to only sketch the mythic lovers, Acis and
the sea nymph Galatea (Auguste Ottin, Sculptor)

The fountain dates from 1630 although it was refurbished in the 1800s.

7" X 9" zinc plate. Black on Cream paper. IPhone snapshot.
