Live Oak, Contre-jour.

Mount Pleasant, SC

A nice Live Oak 'Quercus virginiana' inside the Pinckney Farm location.
Image made against the light. Exposure for 4 seconds at ƒ32. The
grasses (now in winter whites) gave a nice bounce of the light back
into the trunk, and the exposure and development was meant to
lessen any blown-out bright spots in the distance. I chose to use
the branch of a closer tree to frame the top of the image. I used
a slight lens tilt to get the depth of field I thought should apply.

Toyo-Field 45AII, Schneider-Kreuznach APO-Symmar 1:5,6 ƒ=150mm, Ilford FP4+ 125 4x5

FP4+ 4x5 sheet exposed at 125asa, developed in Ilford DD-X 1+4 for 8.5 minutes in BTZS tubes. (N-15%)

Huge contrast range here Colin and you've handled it brilliantly..would have been interesting seeing how a digital would have handled it.

beautiful tones and compo...I really like these semi-landscapes where there is an object as a point of focus rather than a panorama....the large format is awesome....V
