Kodak Baby Brownies

I couldn't see a Category for 'Cuteness' anywhere, so this gallery will have to do.
When it comes to the History of Film, and Kodak, and 'you press the button, we'll
do the rest"
, the Kodak Baby Brownie models can stand tall.

Here are two models. The one in rear is a version of the Baby Brownie, and by the
lack of a 'B' shutter, I'm guessing this bakelite beauty is a camera from 1934~1941.
The 'deluxe' model in front is the Baby Brownie Special - a beauty with a viewfinder
instead of a folding 'peep sight', and some other deluxe features like the ergonomic
side-mounted shutter button. The Special was produced from ~1939-1954. Oh, and
the plaited leather carry strap doubles as security for the self tightening catch to keep the back
attached securely. Cool. Of course, they both use 127 film - I think that equates to maybe
30 megapixels or so when scanned at 360dpi. ;-)

And did I mention ... the Baby Brownie retailed for 99 cents in the US. If you wanted
the Baby Brownie Special, it was way up there ... at $1.25.

Hello Cody ! Thanks for your note. Before you try to pull it all to pieces and risk losing an important little screw, or a shutter spring (which can fly off into the never-never), I suggest you get some 'rubbing alcohol' or some 'alcohol wipes' and some cotton buds, and start a meticulous cleanup outside and inside this little box camera. Not too much liquid, although it will evaporate if you overdo it. It is such a basic camera, there is little to go wrong, unless you have bad fog/mildew/mold etc in the simple glass lens. Remember, too, that this is a 127 film size - not easy to get that size anymore. You may decide to just clean it up, and hold it as a collectible, to honor your grandfather. Good luck.

My grandfather gave me a baby brownie special for christmas. How do I disassemble the unit and what tools do I need, etc.? ...so that I may clean it.

Thanks in advance.
