Ensuring Future Generation

Serengeti National Park

We spotted a group of lions, a male lion and a few lionesses at a fairly close distance. I was shooting with a 100-400mm lens on my full-frame 1Ds Mark III and it was all good. All the sudden, a lioness stood up and walked some distance away and the lion followed her. Apparently, they needed more privacy LOL. Although I was very tempted to grab my 1D Mark III with the 500mm lens for more reach but I decided to keep on using my camera with that zoom lens and I am glad that I did. I could have missed the action otherwise as they mated right there and it happened in just seconds..... Croping did the trick afterwards and thanks to the cropability of the 1Ds Mark III, the result wasn't bad. Both roared loudly and concurrently at the end and look at the intensity! Too bad, the lioness has a tracking collar although it took place in the wild alright.
