After Christianity became the religion of the Roman Empire, it seemed like there was concerted efforts of obliterating the relief of gods, goddesses, including of pharaohs. Mostly the faces were chiseled away.... That is noticeable at practically all tempels we visited. What a pity! Oh, well.
