Hawaiian Black-neck Stilt - "A'eo"

Hunting in Ka'elepulu Stream, Kailua, island of O'ahu. Himantopus mexicanus knudseni, endangered shoreline bird and the only shoreline bird species that resides and breeds in the Hawaiian islands all year long. Preservation efforts and restoration of wetland habitat has contributed to increased numbers in recent years. It is always a thrill to be able to see this bird and photograph it in the wild.
