Waning Crescent 6am 100mm

Live View, Stills+Movie (my bad), Movie Display (my bad), AFLive focus all w the usual suspects:
tripod, remote release. Image is uncropped.

By "my bad" I'm indicating that these were "left over" settings from HD recording over the weekend.

Until now (9:20pm, same day) I could not understand why the the shots were taken with such high
ISO settings. Those were not the settings I chose. How did they come to be?

Reading the 5dmkii Magic Lantern Guide shed light on the answer: "In Movie Display the 5D Mark II
automatically sets ISO speed, aperture and shutter speed." pg205. Right below that we find: "It is
important that you understand how the Live View screen settings affects what you see on the LCD
monitor (see pg 195)."

I experimented with LV this evening. If you don't choose "Movie Display" Av & Tv work normally.
Set Tv, camera pics aperture. Set Av, camera pics shutter speed. In either case the camera
respects your ISO setting. You may get a blinky telling you you're under/over exposed, but
that's it. Warning: "Movie Display" ignores your choices and makes its own.

The other "gotcha" I stumbled on is that selecting "Exposure Simulation" in LV can lead you to a
black LiveView display if your aperture/shutter settings are wrong. The Magic Lantern guide
says "Stills Display" mode will give you a bright LV screen (but warns that your image may look
nothing like that bright screen). To get a peek at your image press the DOF button during "Stills
Display"...
