Lisa, the Nazis took quite a few symbols and made them suit their own needs. The Swastika was a symbol of the sun and its path across the sky, creating the four season. The arms represent the four seasons, and the turned ends give motion, the turning wheel of the year.
Hitler was quite an occultist and stole other magical symbols to use in this campaign. The ancient Norse Runes are their alphabet, and system of magic. The written word was always magical and carried great power because each symbol had meaning. The SS we are familiar with is actually the Norse symbol Sowelo, which is shaped liked an 'S', but with angles instead of curves, making them look like lightning bolts. Sowelo is the Sun, and represents victory and success in all endeavours.
These symbols are being reclaimed by groups wishing to practice ancient religions, though with the negative connotations associated, they are very careful with their use, so as to not offend people who might take them to mean their Nazi corrupted meaning.

so why then did the Germans ruin such a supposidly "nice" symbol? i will never have warm fuzzy thoughts when looking at a swastika.
aside from that, it is a nice photo.
