Tommy Thompson Park is located on a man-made peninsula that extends five kilometres into Lake Ontario. Because of its high bird concentration, the park is designated as an important Bird Area by BirdLife International. Over 300 species of birds can be found there. The park was officially named after the former Metro Toronto Parks Commissioner, Tommy Thompson.
