The picture is from Tarawa, not Okinawa.
However, the Marines also used camouflaged uniforms on other attacks, for instance on Bouganville.

This is a great picture, and it hasn't been widely published. It should find its way into WWII pictorial histories

this Photo was taken on Tarawa Nov.21,1943 Need proof , there no coconut trees on Okinawa
and only on Tarawa was camouflage uniforms used.
