This magnificent island is definitely my favorite Hawaiian island. I was super impressed with the view from the ship as we approached the island on the morning of October 24 and then docked at the port of Nawiliwili. Soon after arrival we went on an excursion by bus and boat which featured great entertainment by a local family and fascinating scenery including the Wailua River, the Fern Grotto and Opaeka'a Falls. In the afternoon we went to the Kalipaki Beach where the swimming and view was great. Our second day on the island was our last full day of the 7 day voyage. Our Road Scholar group travelled into the mountains where we got to see The Grand Canyon of the Pacific: Waimea Canyon. Later that day the ship left port in time for us to see the spectacular Na Pali Coast before turning back toward Oahu.
