It all began

Picture a Day

It all began on 15th June 2007.

I had been posting photos on a web site called PBase for a little while and had got to know a few people who used the site very regularly.
I enjoyed looking at their work and exchanging comments and I admired the dedication of a certain band who are PaD'ers.
They each take a fresh image every day and put it in their PaD gallery. It matters not that it is posted on THE day it just should be taken on that day, and maybe posted later, when life/work/circumstance allows.
If you "cheat" you're cheating no one but yourself, though I guess it wouldn't go unnoticed among the eagle eyed!!

So, back to 15th June 2007. Why that day? I have no idea, I guess there was a reason back then, but since that day I have taken a fresh photo every day.
I find it stretches the mind, prevents staleness of topic and gets me out of the house (and away from the housework!)
In all honesty I can say that I haven't regretted taking on this personal challenge and I feel, well I know that my photography has improved immensely over the two + years.
The band of PaDers on PBase is still going strong though some have been unable to continue and others have joined in.
We are a tremendous support to each other and many firm friendships have been made.

Many times it has been said - There is something very special about
"capturing the moment"

I can't think of anything I'd rather have as my hobby/obsession.

This is a short piece I have written for our Camera Club site. Anyone care to proof read for me?! :))

It's just fine as it is and a cute shot of the ducks.

Perfectly put, nice to see you didn't duck the issue. And yes your images have improved immeasurably, you've left many of us trailing in your wake.

You don't need anyone to change what you have written...love your feathered friends.

I couldn't agree more Ann - you have 'captured' the essence of PADding - I have to admit I cheat occasionally - but (here's my excuse) there's usually a reason! :)

Your description sounds perfect! A big vote to you for capturing the true sentiments of Pbase!
ps - your ducks are adorable too!
