Just after 10:30 PM on December 10th, Webster firefighters were dispatched to a possible structure fire in between 72 High Street and Chase Avenue in Webster. When firefighters arrived they found a large outside fire below the yards on High Street and across the railroad tracks paralleling Chase Avenue. The area is all but inaccessible due to down trees and heavy brush, which was downed by Webster’s tornado that hit the downtown area last Summer. Some of the local homeless persons set up a tarpaulin draped refuge in the area and have dragged many items into the area. Firefighters had a difficult time accessing the fire, but eventually made it into the area and extinguished the fire. No one was in the area at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. |
