On Monday afternoon April 24th at approximately 1 PM, members of the Webster FD responded to a reported fire in a dwelling located at 8 Abbey Road. The location is quite a ways from Webster Fire Headquarters, but a large black “header” could be seen by first due firefighters as they responded from the apron of the firehouse. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with a heavy fire condition at the rear of the unoccupied two story dwelling, with extension into the attic and roof areas of the building. Eventually, three alarms were struck to bring enough resources to the scene to bring the fire under control. Firefighters from Dudley, Southbridge, Douglas, Oxford assisted Webster jakes in extinguishing the fire. Two dogs were rescued during a primary search of the residence. No injuries were reported. |
