At approximately 17:38 hrs. on Sunday January 9th, members of the Webster FD and Rescue Squad responded to a reported structure fire. A susequent caller stated that the fire was actually in a chicken coup that was in close proximity to a single family dwelling. The PD arrived first to find a chicken coup on fire, and attempted to control the fire with extinguishers. The attempt was ill-fated as the high winds spread the fire to the dwelling. When the first engine arrived on scene, fire was rolling out two windows in the front as well as the front door. The fire quickly spread throughout the house due to balloon frame construction. Before the fire was extinguished, Webster would receive assistance at the scene from the Dudley, Oxford, and Douglas fire departments. |
