| In the early evening hours of Tuesday January 23rd, calls started pouring into the Southern Worcester County Emergency Communications Center reporting a house on fire in the area of 95 Worcester Road. Fire, Police, and EMS units were immediately dispatched. The location was in a high visibility area, and the fire was seen creeping up the exterior front wall of the residence by many passers-by. Upon arrival, Webster firefighters found a fire extending up the exterior wall and into the attic space of the neat, one story ranch dwelling. An elderly occupant had to be removed on arrival. She did not even know that her house was on fire. The fire was caught very quickly, and minimal damage was done to the building. There were no injuries. Firefighters from the neighboring Dudley FD responded to the scene and assisted Webster jakes. Fire Chief Brian Hickey stated the fire was caused by an electrical short. |
