| On Tuesday January 15th shortly before 6 PM, all Thompson CT fire companies were alerted to a possible house fire located at 313 Quinebaug Road in the Quinebaug section of Thompson. Being on a main thoroughfare through the community, it was quickly discovered that this was a confirmed fire. Upon arrival of Thompson firefighters, it was determined that they had a fully involved vehicle parked next to a dwelling, and the fire had already extended heavily into the one story ranch. Several handlines were quickly deployed to control the vehicle fire as well as attack the fire inside the residence. The fire was brought under control in about an hour, but there would be several hours of overhaul due to the collapse of a portion of the dwelling’s roof and another part of the building. No injuries were reported, and a cause for the early evening fire has not been released. |
