Firefighters from four Thompson fire companies joined forces with five other departments to extinguish a late night fire in a single family wood frame dwelling on Jezierski Road in the North Grosvenordale section of Thompson on Friday night March 2nd. Weather hampered the suppression effort, as rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow fell over the area just before the alarm was received. The first due engine from the Community Fire Company was unable to make it up the lengthy driveway due to icing. Heavy fire was pushing thoughout the two story structure on the arrival of first due firefighters. Water supply was also an issue, and water had to be drafted out of a nearby pond to supply a tanker shuttle operation. More photos will be posted to the site as they are edited. |
