It was an extraordinary night for Southbridge jakes early Sunday morning April 13th, as five alarms were struck for numerous suspicious building fires in one neighborhood. The largest of the fires occurred in a reportedly vacant building located at 44-46 Cohasse Street. The call for this well-involved three-decker came in about a half hour after crews responded to a suspicious outside fire at the VFW Post, just up the street from this dwelling. There were a total of five suspicious fires that occurred overnight. The fires are being investigated by the Southbridge Fire and Police Departments as well as a contingent from State Fire Marshall's Office. Three police officers were treated at a local hospital for minor smoke inhalation and released. |
