Just before 01:00 hrs. on Wednesday morning March 30th, Charlton firefighters were alerted to a report of a structure fire located at 66 Gale Road, near the Charlton/Dudley/Oxford town lines. Upon arrival, on duty Charlton firefighters were faced with a fully involved storage shed in close proximity to single story ranch dwelling. The fire had already extended into the residence. Due to the fire being located outside Charlton’s municipal water district, a second alarm was struck to bring adequate water to the fire scene. Mutual aid was summoned from the Dudley, Oxford, and Auburn Fire Departments to assist Charlton firefighters at the scene. A downed secondary electrical service wire restricted access to the fire building until it could be disconnected by National Grid. Fire damage was held to the shed, as well as the kitchen and living room areas of the house. There were no injuries. The fire was investigated by members of the Charlton Fire Department. |
