I can't even have a jab at the doctor's without feeling sick so you can imagine how it made me feel looking at your gallery Andrew, lol. I thank you though for showing me something that I did not know existed and thank you for opening my mind to this bizarre artform! I find it absolutely amazing what some people do but then it makes us all who we are and what is strange and without reason to me can be completely normal and with reason to the next person. As Anthony said, great photojournalism, well done!

Bizarre art, very interesting and well captured. I can't help but feel the "ouch factor" and wince at a couple of these images. Also interesting that some will look at this ritual and think to themselves "I want to try that, hook me up, mate"

To Harry, this is photojournalism. It is real and it is happening. It is not pro or against, it is purely the objective capture of an event in a given point in time. Denying that this event ever happened or removing its existence in order to paint your picture of the perfect world is akin to hegemony.

Well done on the photos, it shows your not afraid to capture anything! I find they are very artistic in the way they have been portrayed. Keep up the great work!!
As for the ones that think they are not in the right place.. this ritual has been around for hundreds of years.. look it up! If you cannot appreciate art form in another way than your narrow minds see it, then maybe it should be you that needs to be removed till you can broaden your horizons and open your mind to the unlimited places that beauty takes place. Not just in your own little world. ~T~

A bit shocking for the faint-hearted, but a neat bit of photojournalism Andrew. Apart from the "graphicness" of the mutilation I think the photo construction is superb - from lighting and composition to colour saturation.

Hey Andrew, you got access to a pretty hardcore sub-culture mate - great start to the gallery. People ask me why I like to ride a Harley Davidson - sometimes you have to say, "if you have to ask, you'll never know..." I'm a bit like that with this.....I just don't get human psychology sometimes - Hindu ritual to get closer to their God, African tribes doing the mind over matter thing, but this? Guess there's a big endorphin rush for them.....
