The city of Louisville received a $20 million federal grant to help demolish the aging Clarksdale public-housing project and replace it with a neighborhood of homes, apartments and townhouses. It will be redeveloped in two phases. The first will target a four-block area west of Clay Street that contains 417 units. The second phase will target the four-block area east of Clay Street. The redeveloped Clarksdale will include units for low-income residents and market-rate homes and townhouses. It will also include an assisted-living facility.
