English:
The gallery title is just a joke. I do like the 18ème. Let us see. Paris is divided in 20 areas (called "arrondissements"). Since 2015, when I go to Paris, I visit one or two arrondissements. The available time is not sufficient for a complete walk and therefore I choose the spots that I consider interesting according my feelings. The 18th (18ème) is attractive in several ways: the Montmartre and Sacré-Coeur; it is an area with a strong African immigration (Maghreb included); location of Pigalle and cabarets Moulin Rouge, Lapin Agile and the Moulin de la Galette; the area "behind" Montmartre (towards north) there are residential areas, calm streets and the long pedestrian stairs; it is the first place where I lived (1976-1977) in France. It is a pleasure to walk on the streets Abbesses, Lamarck, Caulaincourt, Lepic, Saint Vincent, des Saules and many others of this region. On the opposite part (at east, but still on the 18ème) there is La Goutte d'Or area with a nice view towards the Sacré-Coeur basilica. The metro station Barbès-Rochechouart (corner of boulevards de la Chapelle and Sebastopol) is another emblematic point of the 18ème, where the immigration is present. Each arrondissement of Paris has a peculiar charm and certainly the eclectic 18ème deserves an attentif look to its particularities. My friends - and phographers - Arnulf Kost and Fahd Sultanem came along on this tour.
