Here there are pictures from Urubici area and from the village Major Gercino (approx. 150 and 70 km west from Florianópolis, respectively). Urubici is located in the mountain area (Serra do Mar). Very close to Urubici, with some friends, we spent some days in a 'pousada' (hotel) Rio Canoas. In this folder I included some typical trees of this state. The 'Araucária' grows very well in fresh climate and it is common in the states of Santa Catarina and Paraná. The Araucária gives us the 'pinhão', a delicious type of cashew or chesnut, very appreciatted in the region and also in Brazil. In the south of the state, old fig trees have a quite unique shape and good pictures can be obtained from them. When I travel to Porto Alegre (500 km south of my town Florianópolis) to visit my familly, I always watch these trees with photographic interest and in the late 1990s I took the pictures shown here. However, I am sure that it possible to do it with much better quality if I stop by with more time and appropriate equipment. For the majority of photos I used my Olympus OMs analog equipment. However, as curiosity, for some pictures on Major Gercino, I used my my Zeiss Ikon Contaflex Super B and extenders gear. These pictures are direct reprodution of my prints (some in color), taken with my Nikon D7100.
