Liège: a cloudy Sunday walking (Slides 2008)

In 2008 our research group in Electrical Engineering had a scientific collaboration with colleagues from Université de Liège. I went there for a 15 days mission. On a cloudy Sunday, I walked in the city to take pictures of some less touristic places. Liège was an advanced town in the second half of the XIXth century and the first half of the XXth. Siderurgie, textile, weapons fabrication, charbon production and manufacturing of advanced products were the main source of development of the town (as well as all Wallony region). However, from the 1950s, decadency struck the area (in north of France as well). The situation started improving from some decades ago, with financial incentive and help in the scientific and technological sectors. Without getting into details, nowadays, walking on the Liège streets, it is clear that this town was a prosperous one; some old buildings are beautiful and rich while in parallel there are labor people neighborhoods. A cloudy Sunday was a good moment for trying to capture the atmosphere. I remember using a Contax RX loaded with film Fuji Sensia. The slides were macro-photographed with an Olympus E-M1 II and the Zuiko macro 35mm/3.5. The photos were treated with ACDSee; as usual, only cleaning, cropping and adjustments on color, brightness and contrast were performed.
