In my first sabbatical year, I spent about 1.5 years as Visiting Professor at the University of Akron, Ohio. That was a good opportunity for photography, practiced in my spare time and weekends. In that occasion, I went to several Camera Shows, common swap photo meetings in the USA and I started buying and collecting old cameras. For this folder, I remember using Contaflex Super B (and its supplementary lenses) and Kodak Retinas IIa and Reflex IV (with its interchangeable lenses). With these cameras I took some pictures on the Towpath Trail. They may not be very sharp (compared to modern digital equipment photos), but I like the smoothness of such pictures, which, in my opinion, match well with the rainy and snowy winter weather. Some pictures of the dasactivated B.F. Goodrich factories are also included. B.F. Goodrich as well as several american tire companies were born in Akron. Because the production moved to other places and countries, these plants were deactivated. Nowadays most of them were torn down. In the final part of the folder there are some pictures taken during my second stay in Akron, in 2001.
