Long-Tailed Broadbill

Fraser's Hill - Pahang, Malaysia

Long-Tailed Broadbill – Psarisomus dalhousiae
This is the seventh and final broadbill found in West Malaysia. It averages 25 cm in length.
Its distinctive feature is a “monkey” face with a black crown of feathers that resembles hair
on a face and yellow looking “ears”.

The bird has a high pitched piercing whistle.

This shot was taken at Fraser’s Hill – Pahang, Malaysia and spotting it was difficult let alone
photographing it. This is a shy bird and contrary to what the book says about it moving in
flocks I have only seen it as an indivudual.

Habitat : Broadleaved evergreen jungles 500 – 2000m.

other sizes: small medium original auto
