Blue Nuthatch

Fraser's Hill - Pahang, Malaysia

Blue Nuthatch (Sitta azurea)
The larger of 2 types of nuthatches found in West Malaysia these are 13.5 cm in length.
They are extremely skittish running along, up and down tree trunks looking for small
insects. They are unmistakable with their blackish blue tinge. As reported and here verified
they are associated with mixed flocks of birdwaves during feeding.

Habitat : Broadleaved and evergreen jungles 820 – 2180m
