Velvet-Fronted Nuthatch (Male)

Bukit Tinggi - Pahang, Malaysia

Velvet-Fronted Nuthatch (Sitta frontalis)
These average 12.5cm in length. They run up and down tree trunks
looking for small insects before flying off to the next tree. Extremely
skittish by nature they are difficult to capture. Seen here the male has
“post ocular black stripes” whereas the female is without.

Habitat: Broadleaved evergreen, semi evergreen jungles and mixed deciduous jungle up to 1800m.
